This Is What I Get

A friend of mine who was in a relationship for about 5 years eventually started to love this man more then she loved herself. She helped this man build himself back up and then he eventually learned to live without her. She lost herself somewhere trying to love this man…

I was so busy working on you that I forgot about me.
I was so busy working on you that I forgot to make sure everything met my needs.
I was so busy working on you that I forgot to enjoy the moments that quickly slipped away..
I was so busy working on you that I lost myself, but still felt it was necessary to build you up all the while you were tearing me down..
I was so busy working on you that I forgot I deserve love too..
I've picked you up at your lowest, bearing a load that I knew would eventually break me down... not knowing I'd have nobody around to scrape me off the ground..
This is what I get for working on you, neglecting myself, and overlooking how I really felt..
So much for the Man being the Alpha, in this situation I gave all the care. I was the strength that kept him in the air...
This is what I get for working on you...
